Joan Didion: “You have to pick the places you don't walk away from.”
Sacramento,
California 1894.
She was
born in the United States, and start writing at five years old. Then she went
to the University of California to study English. When she was in her senior
year, her mother showed her a competition from young writers of the Vogue
magazine. She won, so she moved to New York and start working at the magazine.
On the other side, she start writing novels, her first work was Run, River. The writer John Gregory
Dunne edited her book, a few years later they got married. Both lived from writing.
In her
novels and essays, Didion writes about the disintegration of United States
morals and cultural choices, always with a critical eye. Besides she lived in the United States in the
60’s and 70`s so her work is a testimony of that decades. In her novels and
essays you can highlight: The year of
magical thinking, the white album
and Blue Nights.
I choose
her because of her talent to observe and the quality to find what to write
about, besides her way she narrate is amazing.

She looks really cool! I think that she got a lot of stories to tell! I want to read Blue nights!
