Favorite subject: watching paintings
My favorite
subject this semester is “Imagen y sociedad”. It is one of the subjects that we
have with the cinema’s students. We have classes every Thursday at 9:15 in the
morning. It is very early. The teacher is Javier Mateos.
The class
is about looking for images and sees what there is behind. The teacher always
talks about paintings, so it is very interesting because we have seen a lot of
paintings and sculptures that tales stories: like catholic representation and sexual
representation of images. So it is very important to know about History, that
includes the Bible. No one knows a lot about that, so the teacher has to tell
us some chapters.
Besides the
teacher from Spain so he usually use concept that we are not used to hear. He has
a classic way of teaching: he uses a power point with the paintings and sculptures,
even it is no decorated. He complains every class because we don’t participate,
but I like to hear him, more than being active.
I have learned a lot about art history, mythology
and references that I usually do not understand when I am watching a picture.
Ps: This could be us if we were studying in Paris.
I really like art! It's amazing how we can discuss about all the images that we see!
